Habitat Work Group

There are large-scale habitat impacts that are pervasive throughout the Basin and affect most stock. Depending on the fish life history, stocks are impacted by estuary habitat as well. The long history of land use development has severely impacted the quantity and quality of tributary habitat for salmon and steelhead. Habitat in river mainstems also have effects on fish mortality. Healthy stream habitat is essential for fish to survive and thrive.

The work group is assessing how habitat impacts fish population growth and developing recommendations to combat these long-standing challenges of habitat loss and degradation. A roster of work group members is here. The group meets monthly via Zoom Webinar.
